RAW Photo process tool

This is a really nice tool that I found, does Raw batch processing comes in Mac OSX and Windows flavors:

PhaseOne Capture One LE

The best part is that after the Pentax software that came with my camera stopped working on a set of Raw files I had, this opened them and did it's magic.

Oh, and it's FAST!

Sweet!!! BTW if you don't already have it you should also look into iViewMedia Pro, there is a bundle deal with that software and the Capture One Pro software. I have no affiliation, just really happy with the product. iViewMedia Pro worked in a situation where iPhoto just died, I needed a image viewer for a Family Reunion and it did the job very very well.

Aljazeera.net - A blessing for evolution

Being a button holding Pastafarian myself, I find it interesting how accurate the Arabic-language television network Aljazeera got it. Neat.

NOLA

Very interesting, I know both Tom (who posted the story on DailyKos) and his brother David. Though I must admit I had to ask twice to make sure the David in the story was the one that I knew. Guess still waters run deep.

NOLA: How My Brother Spent Spring Break

The little plant that could.

I just heard this story on NPR and, well, you just have to hear it for yourself.

Some color...

As has been mentioned earlier today - the blog was without color... I have punched up the template a bit more, I almost like it now. Can't say the same about CSS though...

Let me know what you think.

Please ignore the mess

You may (or may not) notice that the blog is changing on a daily basis. This is not due to new posts but due to me fiddling with the template. Like any true engineer I can't just let the default do - I have to "fix" it. Hey but at least there is a links section now - yeah me.

New Toys

This weekend I took the plunge and purchased my first digital SLR camera. After much research I finally settled on the Pentax *ist DL for the following reasons:
  1. takes AA batteries (HUGE one for me)
  2. fits my hands very well 3) takes SD cards, I already have a few large cards so this was a nice option, and
  3. price, at $599 with a kit lense it is the least expensive digital SLR out there.
